Austin City Limits to Replay Classic 1978 Tom Waits Episode This Weekend

Posted 19 Dec 2011 in Uncategorized

Back in 1978 I had a chance to see Tom Waits in a small venue near the lovely town of Valparaiso, Indiana.  I didn’t really know much about him at the time. I went with a friend from work. The reason we went was actually to see the opening act, Leon Redbone. Leon had laryngitis that evening.  He never spoke a word. His still did his full show, just everything was instrumental. He would then hold up a little sign that read “Thank You” after each song.  He was still enjoyable, but I wish I could have heard the “real” version of  Champagne Charlie! After a short delay to change the stage set up, Tom Waits made an appearance.  I’ve seen...

Now he’s taking it to another step.  Next week he’s featuring the Pink Floyd. No, the band will not reform and perform.  Sit back down.  Nick Mason will be an interview guest on Monday, Sept 26. The Shins will perform The Dark Side of the Moon’s”Breathe” on the same show.  That will be followed the next day by Roger Waters....

Sammy Llanas Officially Leaves The BoDeans.

Posted 06 Sep 2011 in Music + TV News, Uncategorized

Sammy Llanas, who along with Kurt Neumann was one of the last two founding members of The BoDeans, has left the band. Sammy informed the band recently and did not show up for a performance in Colorado. He has been replaced in the band by guitarist Jake Owen. Kurt has claimed that it was “differences in opinion” that led to the split. He told the Milwaukee Journal recently “I think Sam and I worked together as long as we could,” Neumann said. “It was a relationship you try to hash it out as long as you can, and then you can’t. I think it was time. . . . I wished him good luck, and I hope he can move forward.” Sammy...

Jim Jones Revue “Jim Jones Revue”

Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#433 in the series Series) is the Jim Jones Revue. Imagine just for a minute. You are a mad scientist in the rock and roll laboratory.
