Posted 02 Apr 2013 in Music + TV News

The 50 and Counting tour continues…. “50 and Counting has been pretty amazing so far,” Mick Jagger said in a release. “We did a few shows in London and New York last year … and had such a good time that we thought … let’s do some more. It’s a good show. Lots of the classic stuff everyone wants to hear … with a few little gems tucked in here and there. The stage is shaped like lips and goes off into the venue so I get to run around in the crowd. It’s great fun to be able to get that close to the audience.” Keith Richards added, “From day one at rehearsals it sounded so...

Posted 30 Mar 2013 in Music + TV News

I’ll let you decide where this list falls. CBC has announced their Top 25 Canadian Singers of All Time List. It was compiled by a group consisting of network producers and hosts. The said about the task that it was “a tenuous, lawless balancing act of separating voices from songwriting skills, honouring established talents while still giving a nod to younger generations and giving due respect to those with mad skills regardless of whether they are too cool or not cool enough.” Here’s their listing…  1. k.d. lang  2. Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric Co.) has Died at the Age of 39

Posted 18 Mar 2013 in Music + TV News

Music gives us so much joy, and occasionally, so much sadness. Reports today of the death of Jason Molina, one of the finest talents of recent years , have left me totally shocked and stunned. Fans knew he was unwell, he’d been out of the picture for the last three or four years but the news of his death, on Saturday March 16 at the age of 39 was completely unexpected. Jason first came to our attention back in the 90’s as the main man behind Songs: Ohia which was essentially just a vehicle for himself. A fine body of work was carved out, culminating in the superb album Magnolia Electric Co in 2003. Jason loved the sound of...

Posted 15 Mar 2013 in Music + TV News

Eric Clapton kicks off 50th Anniversary Tour Eric Clapton kicked off his “50th Anniversary Tour in fine style last night in Phoenix, Arizona with a killer set that featured some great blues and rock and roll numbers.  This is one of the strongest sets I’ve seen EC bring to a show in many a year. Eric played a 20 song set and then returned for two encore songs. He opened with “Hello Old Friend.” This number had not been performed live in one of his shows since 1976. Paul Carrack is along on this tour and treated the crowd to a couple of his favorites “How Long” and “Temped.” The Wallflowers opened the show. Here is Eric’s band...
