The Cure “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me”
Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#188 in the Series) is The Cure, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.
Kiss Me 3, is a 1987 release by the highly popular, and rightly so, English rock band, The Cure. It was their seventh studio release and was a double album.
It contained a number of hit songs. “Just Like Heaven,” the third single released off the album reached #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It was the first Top 40’hit for the band.
“Why Can’t I Be You” was the first single and reached #54 on the singles chart. “Catch” was the second single and did not chart. “Just Like Heaven’s” success was followed up by single #4. “Hot Hot Hot!!!”also did not chart.
It’s not surprising that The Cure didn’t have more top 40 singles since they were more of an FM rock act or AOR (Adult-oriented rock) Band as opposed to a single releasing top 40 act. But you knew that.
The first song on the album, ‘The Kiss’ is also a standout! Many songs from this album are still active as live tracks at The Cure’s concerts. Songs from this album that were played on their 2008 tour included “The Kiss,” ” Torture,” “Catch,” “Why Can’t I Be You?,” ‘ How Beautiful You Are,” “Just Like Heaven,” “Hot Hot Hot!!!,” “If Only Tonight We Could Sleep,” and “Shiver and Shake.”
Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me was produced by lead singer Robert Smith and David M. Allen.
The album peaked at # 35 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.
