Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#140 in the Series) is Paul McCartney, Tug of War. I had not purchased a new Paul McCartney album in years when Tug of War was released in 1982. I hadn’t even thought about it. Then my friend Phil Lucafo asked me if I heard the new McCartney album. He highly recommended it so on his suggestion, I grabbed it. I’m glad he did. Today’s Cool Album of the Day(#385 in the Series) is The Replacements, Tim The barstool I happened to be sitting on was half a dozen steps inside Geno and Carlo’s, an “old school”, cash only bar in the heart of the Italian section of San Francisco known as North Beach, or as the locals prefer to call the area,” Naughty North Beach”. The drink of choice was a Makers Mark Manhattan straight up with two stemmed cherries. The clientele of this particular watering hole is a sublime mosh pit of professional types, Goth chicks, drunken homeless dudes, artists, and musicians. The atmosphere is more Woodstock than Altamont, with a definite “Star Wars bar scene” vibe to the entire proceedings....

Years later I’d get a chance to get to know Carl Palmer just a little bit at least. If you would have told me that in 1976 I would have freaked. I knew it was time to add Emerson, Lake and Palmer to our fun little project here. Many different album to chose from however. Trilogy, Pictures at an Exhibition, Works and of course, Brain Salad Surgery. However, Tarkus it is. We’ll definetly do that monster live album too someday. I like the Works quite a bit as well....

Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#134 in the Series) is Gram Parson’s, GP. I was shocked to see that I hadn’t featured Gram Parson’s as of yet. He’s one of my all-time favorites. I did feature him as part of The Byrds, Sweethearts of the Rodeo era. GP was Gram’s first of two studio albums. Grievous Angel was the second and could have been as easily featured as GP since they are both outstanding pieces of music. GP was home for some of Gram’s most wonderful moments. Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#128 in the Series) is Nils Lofgren, Nils. Nils is the sixth solo album by guitarist Nils Logren, and and the fourth studio release. Nils came to prominence as a member of Crazy Horse and before that, Grin. He’s been a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band for over 25 years. Nils was my favorite for a number of reasons but mainly for No Mercy.
