Posted 01 Mar 2014 in Music + TV News

Bruce Springsteen continues to pull out some cool surprises on his current tour down under. He’s been including some great tunes by the locals into his mix. We’ll post videos when we can. I’ll add them as I get them. So far they’ve included Inxs’ “Don’t Change.” AC/DC “Highway to Hell” (wth Eddie Vedder) and Lorde’s “Royals.” The Easybeats “Friday on My Mind” and even the Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive.”  I’m really hoping for some Split Enz!!! Tom Morello is on this tour as an extra guitarist. There are four of them now on the stage as he joins Bruce, Nils Lofgren and Steve Van Zandt.  Here’s Inxs “Don’t Change.” “Highway To Hell”  “Royals”  “Stayin’ Alive” “Friday on My...

Bruce Springsteen ‘Born to Run’

Song Of The Day by Eric Berman – “Born To Run” by Bruce Springsteen Some of my favorite scenes from The Sopranos are when Tony Soprano is shown driving in his SUV rocking out and singing along to ‘70s tunes, usually by BTO or Journey. Today, I felt a little like Tony Soprano while driving to work, but instead of Journey or BTO, I was listening to one of the greatest albums ever released, Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen. A strange and wonderful sensation came over me by the time the title track came on, which will always signal the beginning of Side Two to me even when hearing it on an iPod. “Born To Run” is still...

Posted 17 Jan 2013 in Music + TV News

Since Stevie Van Zandt’s filming commitments to his highly successful television show Lilyhammer will keep him off stage for the upcoming Australian tour dates, Bruce Springsteen has invited Tom Morello to sit in temporarily on guitar.  Following the Australian dates, Van Zandt will return to the tour in Oslo, Norway on April 29, 2013. Tom Morello performed on multiple recordings from ‘Wrecking Ball’ (Jack of All Trades, This Depression), and recently joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band onstage for performances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, at SXSW and for the legendary 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert.  He has also joined the band on concert tour stops in NYC, Los Angeles and...

Bruce Springsteen “Born in the USA”

Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#745 in the Series) is Bruce Springsteen, Born in the USA At the start of 1984, with a new album imminent, Bruce Springsteen’s longtime fans must have been curious, maybe even anxious, about which direction he was going to take. His last effort, 1982’s superb “Nebraska” had been a bit of a departure, consisting as it did of a fairly sombre, and stark, suite of mainly downbeat songs. Bruce had been given artistic freedom to do his own thing on that release and he delivered a majestic masterpiece which has stood the test of time and remains, for many (myself included), his best album to date. This time around though both fans...

Bruce Springsteen Finishes European Leg of Tour With One Of His Longest Shows Ever. Here’s The Set List

Posted 31 Jul 2012 in Music + TV News

I’ve read some reports that this very well could have been the longest show of Bruce’s career. I don’t have those facts in front of me so we’re not going to make that statement.  We’ll leave the statement making to The Boss himself as he did just that tonight in Helsinki, Finland as he and the E-Street band ended the European leg of the Wrecking Ball Tour. Was this a good bye to Europe? Was he saying this is it to his fans overseas? No, not a chance in my opinion. It was just a nice party before they take a two week vacation before the band takes the stage once again in Boston. 33 songs in all,...

Bruce Springsteen “Wrecking Ball”

Today’s Cool Album of the Day (#651 in the Series) is Bruce Springsteen, Wrecking Ball The Boss is back and he’s an angry man! I’ll be honest, I never thought I’d fully enjoy a new Springsteen album again. Much as I love the man and his music, recent efforts have left me fairly underwhelmed. But come on, it’s Bruce! He’s never going to entirely let me down and both Magic and Working on a Dream certainly have their moments. Some fine songs between them but in terms of putting out an album that was a great listen all the way through, well, I thought it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. Which just shows how much I know…………..this...
