    Jim James, he of the ultra-cool band My Morning Jacket has given us another track from his soon-to-be-released album titled  Regions of Light and Sound of God. This newest song is called “A New Life” and it joins “Know Til Now” which was released in the fall. Look for Regions of Light and Sound of God on February 5th. “Love For Levon” Concert to Be Held in Honor of Levon Helm on October 3rd

  (Setlist and Videos From Show Here) October 3rd has been announced as the date for the “Love For Levon” concert. The show will be held at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Taking the stage will be The Levon Helm Band, John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, Gregg Allman, Ray LaMontagne, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Marc Cohn, Patty Griffin, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Bruce Hornsby, Jorma Kaukonen, Robert Randolph and Joe Walsh. Musical Director responsibilities will be handled by The Levon Helm Band’s Larry Campbell and famed producer Don Was.  Surprise guests are expected as well. My Morning Jacket’s Jim James to Release Solo Album this Year

    There is very little known as far as details at this point, but My Morning Jacket’s Jim James has confirmed publicly that he will have a solo album later this year. The announcement was made in a not yet published interview with Paste Magazine.  This would be his first solo release since Jim, (As Yim Yames) released an EP of George Harrison covers in 2009. He’s also recently was part of a Woody Guthrie tribute album called New Multitudes and also performed a duet with John Prine on John’s Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: Song of John Prine.  On that album they covered “All The Best” You can hear a live performance of the track below. –Larry Carta See our review...

    Tomorrow, iTunes will release a SPECIAL HOLIDAY EP of music recorded while the band was on tour in Europe titled “My Morning Jacket: iTunes Session”. This EP features covers of your Christmas favorites along with one brand new song called “Welcome Home” and a beautiful rendition of Circuital’s “Wonderful (The Way I Feel)”. Recorded in Amsterdam, this EP also features guest vocals from Seattle’s The Head And The Heart. Also arriving next week in select independent record stores is the limited 7″ with fan favorite “Friends Again” on the A side and “Outta My System (Alternate Universe Take)” on side B.
