Buffalo Springfield Reunion Tour Off Again.

Posted 27 Feb 2012 in Music + TV News

The anticipated Buffalo Springfield reunion tour is not going to happen, again. It once was a woman most anticipated tours of 2011, and then was pushed back to 2012, and now it’s off indefinitely. My guess is it’s more like “definitely.”

The Buffalo Springfield had not played together since 1968 when they decided to reunite and the 2010 Bridge School Benefit Concert. Shortly after the success of that show, the band announced that Neil Young, Richie Furay and Stephen Stills (along with the rhythm section of Joe Vitale and Rick Rosas) would tour in 2011.

That did not come about but the band said that it would be a goal for 2012. Now word comes out to 2012 is off also.

Richie recently did an interview with Baltimore’s WBAI. “I was actually told, ‘We’re doing this 30-day tour. “And, you know, Neil is just fickle and even though it boils down to all three of us making a decision…without the three of us, really there can’t be anything that would even resemble a Buffalo Springfield…I gotta say that we probably lost a little bit of our momentum; that isn’t to say it couldn’t be picked up again, but I certainly don’t see anything happening this year.”

The band did to six shows in 2011 including the Bonnaroo Festival and appeared to be well on their way to a full root reunion tour. Now it appears that Neil has decided to make his reunion with Crazy Horse as opposed to the Buffalo Springfield. However nothing is guaranteeing there either as Crazy Horse bassist explains “I know,” Molina wrote. “You’ll have to sit, for now!…It’s in the Horizon…Somewhere.”
