“Love For Levon” Concert to Be Held in Honor of Levon Helm on October 3rd

October 3rd has been announced as the date for the “Love For Levon” concert. The show will be held at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Taking the stage will be The Levon Helm Band, John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, Gregg Allman, Ray LaMontagne, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Marc Cohn, Patty Griffin, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Bruce Hornsby, Jorma Kaukonen, Robert Randolph and Joe Walsh. Musical Director responsibilities will be handled by The Levon Helm Band’s Larry Campbell and famed producer Don Was.  Surprise guests are expected as well.

Proceeds will be donated to the Levon Helm’s Woodstock New York studio and concert hall where the popular Midnight Rambles have been held.

Sandy Helm, Levon’s wife and Amy Helm, Levon’s daughter made this statement. “We are deeply moved that so many musicians and friends of Levon’s are coming together to celebrate his life and his music, and to help us keep his musical spirit and vision alive in the Midnight Rambles. We want to continue to honor his legacy by creating a musical landmark at the Barn, one that inspires and celebrates Americana music and its heritage.”

Event producer Keith Wortman had this to say “We are honored to produce a benefit concert that pays tribute to a musical icon and a beautiful soul, “Levon’s friends and fans will be coming from all over the world to be part of music history for such a noble and worthy cause to ‘Save The Barn,’ and ensure that the legacy of Levon Helm will live on for generations to come.”
